F.A.Q.

  • What does Galatas6 mean?
    • Galatas is the Latin for St. Paul’s epistle to the Galatians. The 6 is for the sixth chapter where St. Paul exhorts us: “Therefore, whilst we have time, let us work good to all men, but especially to those who are of the household of the faith.”
  • What is the significance of your logo?
    • The letter G is for Galatas. The shape of the letter G is that of a house, representing the household of faith. The cross on top of the house symbolizes that Christ is the head of every household. Finally, St. Paul is often depicted in art with a sword, the instrument of his martyrdom. St. Paul also describes the word of God in Hebrews: “For the word of God is living and effectual and more piercing than any two edged sword; and reaching unto the division of the soul and the spirit, of the joints also and the marrow: and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
  • What inspired you to start Galatas6?
    • First, credit for any good that Galatas6 accomplishes is due to the Blessed Trinity through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
    • Apostolic Exhortation: In Galatians, St. Paul exhorts us to do good to all men, but especially to those in the household of faith. We interpret this to mean that we should financially support our fellow Catholics whenever possible.
    • Subsidiarity: In addition, the Catholic principle of subsidiarity encourages us to support our local community, c.f. Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, 402-403458,463
    • Personal experience: Finally, we are practicing Catholics with large families and wanted to support fellow Catholics and their families. We intend to do this by supporting Catholic owned businesses or Catholic employees of companies, e.g., a practicing Catholic who earns sales commission.
  • How is Galatas6 unique?
    • Galatas6 is unique because you are encouraged to search for goods or services from your home parish then your local region. Galatas6 is also unique in asking that all listers acknowledge that they are practicing Catholics, see the Galatas6 pledge.
  • What does Galatas6 hope to achieve?
    • Easy and User Friendly: To provide an intuitive platform for Catholics to find goods and services by local Catholic-owned businesses
    • Financial Independence: To create a strong base of customers that will enable Catholic owned businesses to support their families
    • My parishioner first: Whenever Catholics need a good or service that their first instinct is to see if they can find a Catholic owned business at their parish then local metropolitan area via Galatas6.com
  • Does Galatas6 guarantee the goods or services?
    • No, we do not guarantee the goods or services of the businesses listing on Galatas6.com. We ask that any conflicts be handled in Christian charity. Caveat emptor!

  • Are you associated with the parishes listed?
